Unsurpassed violets with remarkably large corollas in all possible shades of the color palette:

  • Presents the results of the breeding work of the Kursk violet breeder Natalya Skornyakova;
  • And they stand out among other domestic varieties by the presence of the abbreviation “RM” in the name.

In the article you will read in more detail about the varieties of violets of the Republic of Moldova: Angel Day, Ljubljana, Lady Rose, Winter Sun, Valencia, Roses in Crystal, Castle on the Sand.

Violet RM-Angel Day

Beautiful violet Angel's Day.

A marvelous variety of white varieties has represented the standards since 2015. Next you will learn how the violet blooms RM-Angel Day photo and description.

Demonstration of decorative features

From the very first day, violets of optimal size carefully and completely independently arrange their leaf plates into the even contours of rosettes, adhering to the principle of tiled laying accepted in architecture.

As a result, mature bushes of a compact configuration appear with clear boundaries of the calculated symmetry of the leaf pattern.

The significantly elongated violet leaves with a noticeably pointed tip are distinguished by:

  • Quilted surface with a highly fleecy texture;
  • Clear graphics of pressed veins;
  • Coarsely carved teeth along an extremely wavy edge;
  • And the dark emerald color of summer foliage.

The structure of the leaves is quite strong , and the overall dimensions could be a little smaller.

The violet is valued due to the regal texture of its white flowers with a yellowish glow emanating from the center: corollas of huge diameter and the number of their petals:

  • Corresponds to the terry type;
  • And due to the highly corrugated frill, they form lush, airy pom-poms.

ATTENTION! The charm of the violet is given by the pinkish reflections that appear from time to time and the thin greenish border along the contour of the petals.

The variety has white large flowers.

Sports

Violet is characterized by sporting activity; sports differ from varietal specimens in the even pink tone of the flowers.

This variety has sport.

Specifics of room keeping

Violet blooms profusely and for a long time - unlike many white-flowered varieties, Saintpaulia corollas can remain fresh for quite a long time . The size of the flowers and their number surprise you from the first wave of budding. Lush caps stand upright due to strong, but short peduncles.

ATTENTION! Varietal violet does well without intense lighting, and too much light can provoke the plant to bend its leaves down in an attempt to hug the flowerpot.

Saintpaulia blooms magnificently.

Reviews

Sergey Arkadyevich. “I purchased the Angel’s Day violet because I have a collection of white Saintpaulias. No luck - she bloomed pink sport. It’s also gorgeous, but I gave it to my sister.”

Violet RM-Ljubljana

A bright variety of standard form was introduced in 2012.

Mysterious variety Ljubljana.

Description of decorative features

The violet independently, without the help of a grower, collects the resulting leaf plates into dense textures on neat “floors”. Gradually a beautiful rosette with a characteristic symmetrical configuration .

Medium-sized leaves have:

  • Oval – elongated shape with a smoothly tapering tip;
  • A smooth surface with a shiny texture and a mass of silver fibers;
  • Round, medium-sized cloves;
  • Decorating the wavy edge;
  • And a fine venation graphic with an enlarged central vein in a light green color.

The color of the leaves is similar to the dark shades of summer foliage. The underside of the leaf blades acquires a burgundy coating with age.

The whisks are different:

  • The likeness of large terry “stars”, painted with smooth tints of different tones of pink color with coral notes;
  • They have a corrugated texture of the petals with a richly fringed edge frame.

IMPORTANT! The intensity of the color increases from the middle to the edge, where a narrow white ribbon can run.

Violet flowers are star-shaped.

Sports

Violet is not noticed in sporting activities.

Non-standard contents in the room

Saintpaulia:

  • Not picky about care;
  • Easily adapts to the indoor microclimate;
  • Independent in terms of bush formation;
  • Has a spectacular decorative appearance when flowering;
  • Forms voluminous caps;
  • And it is capable of maintaining a presentable and fresh appearance of the corollas for a long time.

Varietal violet is rarely found in flower growers’ collections, although it is perfect for indoor cultivation, as it has a bouquet of such positive qualities as:

  • Symmetrical outlines and compact forms of the bush;
  • Good growth and development without obvious problems with minimal care;
  • An abundance of buds, folding into voluminous caps.

    This variety grows and develops well.

ADVICE! The variety is also ideal for cultivation by beginning violet growers.

Reviews

Alena Mikhailovna. “I noticed that all the violets selected by N. Skornyakova are distinguished by their simple content and excellent decorativeness, not only in flowers, but also in rosettes that form themselves. The Ljubljana variety is just that. This is my “favorite”. Thanks to the master!”

SK-First Love, A. Kuznetsov, mini

Svetochka, I categorically object to the assertion that there are “flaws” of the breeders.

On the Internet on forums they write a lot of different things... I used to also take all this as a guide to action... Now my attitude has changed dramatically and until I check something on my own violets, I cannot categorically say anything.

About the variety A. Kuznetsova SK-First Love: the baby of this variety was bought by me at the Violet House, after I saw a blooming rosette grown by Alexey himself, I was struck by its miniature size. For about a year I looked for optimal growth and maintenance conditions for it; such small miniatures require an individual approach. There were endless stepchildren, and division of the growing point, and meager, inexpressive flowering...

Now I know what the violet needs to live. The whole question is the correct agricultural technology. Recently, many collectors with large collections of miniatures have become interested in wick watering, and I am no exception... With this method, it is difficult to choose the optimal amount of nutrients for miniatures, so various deviations arise that affect flowering. At the same time, we are losing miniature somewhere. The well-known collector of miniatures I. Milekhin still keeps his huge collection on the top watering.

Some people simply like the increase in the size of the rosettes on the wick because they are accustomed to the standards, but for others it is convenient if this collector is selling cuttings. I currently have several varieties of Kuznetsov miniatures that have been growing and blooming for 2 years. During this time there was not a single sport. I consider statements, sometimes in a not very polite form, on some forums that varieties are being “spoiled”, to be erroneous; this can only be a violation of agricultural technology. I had situations when I overdid it with fertilizer and dark green spots began to appear on the leaves, respectively, the flowering was not as expected - the flowers were swollen, but over time everything was restored. This means you need to look for your own mistakes in growing, and not blame the collector’s shortcomings...

The same applies to the varieties of the breeder Berdnikova; I only recently discovered her varieties. They also write a lot of different things on the Internet... But you can’t mindlessly believe everything that is written... Among experienced collectors such as I. Milekhin, M. Nesterova, E. Morozov and others, the varieties of this collector grow remarkably, bloom and take prizes at exhibitions. For now, only the first variety N-Snowy Dahlia is blooming - it’s some kind of miracle! Children of other varieties are growing up.

It turned out a little long, but I simply cannot remain silent when they undeservedly begin to condemn breeders.

Violet RM-Lady Rose

Feminine violet Lady Rose.

The most delicate Saintpaulia of the standard type has been appearing at exhibitions since 2014. For the RM-Lady Rose violet, you can read the photo and description below.

Presentation of special touches

The violet independently begins to arrange the leaf plates that replenish the rosette according to the planned number of floors - tiers, necessary for its decorative appeal, while maintaining a neat order.

The gradually formed bush of a compact configuration, as in architectural practice, displays a magnificent pattern of mosaic alternation of leaves, where each section can receive an optimal charge of solar energy .

Wide - oval medium-sized violet leaves have:

  • Dense structure;
  • Coarsely cut teeth along a slightly wavy contour;
  • Configuration in the form of a small boat or a sail curved towards the center;
  • Smooth surface with pimples;
  • And dark tonal coloring.

Gorgeous violet caps consist of large, double flowers filled with petals . The coloring of the corollas is based on warm shades of the pink palette, which smoothly flow into a delicate light green color on the edges ending in a thick corrugated edging.

The petals themselves are different:

  • Dense texture;
  • And thin translucent veins running across the entire surface from top to bottom.

    Saintpaulia has dense petals.

Sports

The violet occasionally sports, forming flowers of a pinkish-beige color with an extremely thick corrugation of an intense light green-emerald hue along the contour.

Occasionally, sports are found in this variety.

Difficulty of cultivation in collections

The variety is quite easy to care for and has only favorable features:

  • It creates a tight socket itself;
  • Loves to bloom luxuriantly and often;
  • The size of the flower caps is constantly increasing.

CAREFULLY! Violet requires a large amount of intense lighting, so specimens of the variety should not be deprived of additional light from diffuse spectrum lamps - they are responsible for the size of the flowers and the brightness of the color, and also help maintain the stable density of the edging ruffle.

The Saintpaulia in question blooms profusely.

Rare, unusual and hybrid varieties of violets

Among modern hybrids there are also those whose appearance makes you feel uneasy. Some of them are amazingly, unusually beautiful, others are just as terrible. But which ones where depends on everyone's taste.

Next we will tell you about the most unusual violets (you will also find photos below).

Senk's Anemone

It is one of the popular non-blooming violets today . It is very difficult to get a rosette; this variety is rightly called one of the rarest , and seeing it bloom is even more rare. The flowers look like small unopened buds and are therefore easy to miss.

The leaves are the main advantage of Senk's Anemone. The petioles of the leaves are thick and quite long, curved in different directions, which creates a feeling of complete chaos. The sheets themselves form small funnels and have an unusual throat.

Due to the shape of the leaves, this variety has long received a comic name - “Shrek Ears” .

Neverfloris

The name of the variety speaks for itself; it never blooms in the form in which everyone is accustomed . Flowers look like frozen buds, which is why they are called underdeveloped. And opponents of such varieties simply ridicule them for this form.

The leaves of this violet are standard, very juicy, dark green in color. The rosette is usually medium in size , from 20 to 40 cm.

There are an endless number of associations associated with the appearance of Neverfloris flowers. Flower growers compare them to cauliflower or a bouquet of mini artichokes , and sometimes they are compared to a coral reef or a head of broccoli.

Blue Tail Fly

At first glance, it is a semi-mini variety, unremarkable and simple, but the shape of the flower and leaves makes it quite unusual.

Flowers of the “wasp” shape have three standard petals (lower) and two shortened ones (upper), in addition, the upper ones are curled towards the center. The color is solid dark blue. The flowers resemble snapdragons. Flowering is continuous, the peduncles are thin and often bend under the weight of the flowers.

Bastle leaves are very unusual - on one petiole a main leaf plate and 1-5 small ones are formed, which are called stipules. This variety usually has 3-4 stipules. The leaves are medium-sized, and the petioles are long and thin, often elongated, the color is dark green with a red underside.

Mac's Pizza Pizzicato

Having ordinary semi-double flowers of blue color and without any special features, this variety is distinguished by its pronounced gerl foliage. It grows slowly and is difficult to transplant; the recommended pot size is up to 5 cm. It practically does not produce stepchildren.

Miniature bush . The leaves are very curly, with pronounced gerl characteristics. The leaves on a young rosette spin more strongly, but after rejuvenation this effect is not observed. The rosette reaches 7 cm in diameter, but with a large pot and wick watering it can grow up to 10.

The flowers are small, semi-double, coral blue. The peduncles are long but strong, raising the buds quite high above the foliage. It blooms for a long time, but fades abruptly, the peduncle simply dries up.

AB-Peterhof

The rosette is semi-mini, compact, regular in shape, and quite easy to form. The appearance of the flowers is nothing unusual. Simple pansies, soft pink in color with a slight waviness along the edges of the petals. With proper care, you can achieve cap flowering.

The main advantage of this variety, the highlight that makes it rare and unusual, is the color of the leaves. The leaf is elongated with a slight point at the tip. Refers to leaf chimeras - a light spot is located in the center of the leaf, this distinguishes it from other variegated species.

Important! The variety is very sensitive to light; violations at this point of care lead to darkening of the leaf blades - if there is a lot of light, and this makes the bush completely inconspicuous and ordinary.

Senk's Blue Cascade

semi-mini, trailer bush does not branch very readily, sometimes it needs help. The leaves are dark green on top and silvery pink on the underside. The shape of the leaves is elongated, young ones are rolled into a tube and as they grow older they open slightly, adult leaves are spoon-shaped and jagged.

Flowers are located on long peduncles. Flower shape is wasp, medium size. The color of the flowers is indescribably beautiful, soft blue , like the sky on the front side, they have a lighter back side, sometimes it is almost white.

AV-Spongebob

Standard size, rich green foliage, round in shape with a wavy, serrated edge. The cuttings are strong and thick, the rosette is compact, and the leaves lift up in extreme low light conditions.

Double flowers, medium size, 3-5 per peduncle. The color is rich yellow at the center of the flower with a gradient towards the edge, turning into almost white.

This variety can be called a ghost, because despite its very rare color, no one except the breeder himself puts it up for review , and all Saintpaulia lovers want to get it.

Senk's Arctic Fox

Trailer semi-miniature socket. The leaves are medium green, variegated along the edges, elongated. The folded edges make the sheets appear even longer.

Flowers are wasps, white, sometimes sports with purple splashes. At the base the petals are twisted into a tube, and at the ends they are beautifully arranged and rounded.

Often grown not as a trailer, but as a simple miniature. The size of an adult rosette is up to 12 cm, compact.

Shiawasee Trail

Miniature ampel socket. The formation of stepsons is very active, grows quickly, and the leaves are juicy and fragile.

Pronounced girl foliage is dark in color with a light spot at the base and bright veins along the perimeter. This type of leaf is not typical for ampelous violets and this makes it especially beautiful.

The flowers are small, double or semi-double, white with a blue eye in the center. 5-8 buds are formed on the peduncles, the peduncles themselves are elongated. It blooms in small bouquets, almost constantly.

Violet RM-Winter Sun

The exquisite snow-white variety of the standard subspecies has been known to flower growers since 2016.

Playful violet Winter sun.

Outlining the silhouette of the variety

The violet conscientiously collects young leaves into a rosette that is ideal in configuration and filling of tiers . Compact bushes with a neat structure do not like to violate the boundaries of the typological dimensions of their subspecies.

The slightly heart-shaped leaves are distinguished by:

  • Smooth surface with shiny texture;
  • Extremely fine serration of the edges, which disappears in most leaves, forming an even outline;
  • Light, symmetrical venation pattern and rich coloration of summer foliage.

Due to the even texture of the leaf plates, violet rosettes have a flat structure.

The corollas of the variety are pure, snow-white in color, emphasized by the yellowish tint of the central eye:

  • They belong by type to the subspecies of “stars”;
  • They have volumetric outlines of large diameters with a semi-double or terry texture of the structure.

Each petal is richly decorated with wavy flounces , which gives greater splendor and airiness to the flowers.

The edges of the flowers have a wavy shape.

Sports

Saintpaulia has not yet been noted in the formation of sports specimens.

Nuances of content in the collection

Violet has trouble-free behavior in home collections:

  • It has an unpretentious nature, but for long-term preservation of the healthy decorative appearance of white flowers, it is advisable to observe the conditions of a cool microclimate;
  • Flowering begins at the usual time for violets, proceeds luxuriantly and with short periods to recuperate.

The list of positive qualities of varietal violets includes:

  • Ideal socket;
  • Long flowering with voluminous and lush caps;
  • Strong flower stalks.

    The presented violet has a good rosette.

Reviews

Alexandra Artemyevna. I have always been of the opinion that white-flowered specimens are short-lived, that their corollas turn yellow and shrink very early. But they accidentally gave me a violet “Winter Sun” - it turned out to be N. Skornyakova’s magical variety. During its development at home, not a single problem arose; the specimen bloomed with huge flowers, formed many buds and bloomed for an infinitely long time. I fell in love with this violet and now I advise everyone to buy it.”

Violet RM-Valencia

A touching white-flowered standard with pinkish watercolor stains began to be found in collections since 2015.

Violet Valencia appeared in 2015.

Showing Specific Traits

The violet is a violet grower's dream come true: densely layered mosaic patterns of leaves form themselves, eventually forming a perfect, flat rosette of a compact configuration with neat symmetry of the edge.

A varietal bush, as in architectural projects, develops a magnificent graphic picture of a mosaic alternation of elements - leaves, thanks to which each section of the violet rosette can receive its share of solar energy.

Oval - elongated leaves with a pointed tip are distinguished by:

  • Strongly wavy configuration of the side edges;
  • A clearly extruded venation pattern in a light salad tone;
  • Quilted surface; Large, slightly disheveled-looking edge teeth and the tonality of lush summer foliage.

The violet bush blooms with a cap of huge single or semi-double flowers, painted white . In the core of the corolla and along the contour of each petal there are pinkish stains of dense color intensity. The rest of the flower area is filled with pink swells in a chaotic manner.

ATTENTION! The edges of each petal are decorated with an elegant wavy fringe, on which a thin border of green lace is visible.

Saintpaulia has bed shades of flowers.

Sports

Violet is characterized by the stability of varietal categories; it does not form sports.

Unique development in the room

Saintpaulia belongs to the varietal varieties with classically simple care and absolutely unpretentious character in terms of maintenance. It creates an almost ideal rosette on its own, grows vigorously and without problems, blooms often, with minimal rest intervals.

Violet has many more positive qualities, among which we can note:

  • Compactness and dense structure of the bush;
  • Abundance of buds;
  • Gorgeous decorative flowering;
  • Long lifespan of flowers.

    This violet blooms profusely and magnificently.

Reviews

Galina Ivanovna. The “Valencia” variety is from the category of romantic Saintpaulias: the flowering of lush white and pink foam with light green reflections definitely lifts the mood.”

Violet RM-Roses in Crystal

The bright standard Saintpaulia is a relative novelty - registered in 2022.

Wonderful violet Rose in Crystal.

Designation of decorative features

A feature of the variety is that the young rosette has small gaps between the leaf plates - the result of the elongation of the petioles of the first leaves. Adult bushes themselves correct this defect and gradually form a rosette of almost ideal shape.

Violet leaves are different:

  • Large dimensions, bright, emerald-colored veining pattern;
  • Juicy green shades of summer foliage;
  • Quilted surface with glossy texture;
  • And large, wavy teeth.

The lateral edges of the leaves certainly have a wavy texture.

The flowers are characterized by a large diameter , their shape partly represents the type of “stars” that do not fully open, with terry filling of wavy petals.

The edges of each petal bear a very ruffled fringe, highlighted with greenish colors. The tonality of the corolla itself is represented by a white color scheme with blue flashes.

A characteristic feature that gives special grace to the violet is the inability of some flowers to open fully . They freeze in their development at a certain stage, turning into something like small heads of cabbage.

NOTABLE! It is this feature that makes the violet look like the dense buds of peony roses, and it is also responsible for the name of the variety.

The violet in question looks like a rose.

Sports

The plant has not yet been noticed in the formation of sporting young bushes.

The originality of growth in the room

Violet is not at all picky, but you should pay special attention . The variety develops quickly, blooms in multi-colored clusters.

You need to carefully monitor the microclimate - the variety requires cool conditions :

  • With a lower temperature gradient, flowers will be able to form unopened “heads” - and this is very impressive;
  • In cool conditions, the color of the green ruffle appears much brighter.

    At low temperatures, the edges of the flowers become brighter.

Peculiarities

The flowers are deep pink with a light green ruffled border. The shape of the flower is not quite ordinary - a simple pansy with slightly curled upper petals and abundant greenish ruffles along all the petals. The flower looks like a kind of bow. This variety blooms readily and often. There are from 3 to 9 flowers on the peduncle. Peduncles are strong, medium long. The flowers last quite a long time; each flower remains attractive for about a month. New ones are constantly being added to the existing ones. Blooms early. The first flowers can be seen 4-6 months after the children are planted. Over time, the flowers become less bright and turn pale. Green ruffle is most pronounced in cool conditions.

The rosette is compact, neat, with medium green heart-shaped leaves. For frequent flowering and the formation of an even rosette, no special conditions are required. It feels great both on a shelf with artificial lighting and on a windowsill in natural light. It grows and blooms well on wick watering, without increasing in size much. The variety is unpretentious in care.

Violet RM-Castle on the Sand

A standard fantasy variety with elegant shades of pink palette was presented to flower growers in 2018.

Exquisite violet Castle on the Sand.

Image of decorative touches

Violet manifests itself as a full-fledged representative of the Saintpaulia group, distinguished by significant independence from flower growers : it independently composes a rosette, transforming it, using the architectural rules of tiled alternation of elements, into a charming bush with neat symmetry of configuration and dense filling.

With this design of the outlet, all its parts are guaranteed to receive their share of solar energy.

Large violet leaves have:

  • Oval shape with fine teeth, smooth cutting;
  • Smooth surface;
  • Beautiful venation pattern;
  • Easy - wavy contour of the side edge;
  • And lush green shades of spring foliage.

Flowers by type belong to the “star” category of semi-double or double fullness and very significant dimensions. The wavy edges of the petals are decorated with large fringed braid.

IMPORTANT! The color scheme pleasantly surprises with the changes in shades as each corolla matures: at the moment the bud opens, it has pastel pink shades, but gradually the tonality of the color is saturated with color, eventually acquiring a bright palette of pink and red shades with coral reflections. The surface of the flower is abundantly splashed with fancy specks of a blue tone. There may be a white edge along the edge of the petals.

Saintpaulia has double flowers.

Sports

The seedling has not yet been noticed in sports education.

The uniqueness of development in home collections

Violet:

  • Doesn’t get capricious during care procedures;
  • Shows independence when installing a socket;
  • Feels comfortable in a room microclimate.

Possessing a spectacular flowering texture and forming lush volumes of caps, the variety is able to delight flower growers for a long time with the presentable decorativeness of the corollas.

With a lower temperature gradient, the white stripe on the petals can become a wide braid.

Violets may develop a white stripe along the edges of the flowers as temperatures change.

Reviews

Anton. The name of the violet “Castle on the Sand” is not entirely clear to me, but the variety itself evokes stormy applause for its unusual textured color.”

Standard varieties of violets

Among the variety of Saintpaulias, the standards seem completely unprepossessing, but that is their beauty.

Unusually delicate varieties that are often and unjustifiably relegated to the background. The standards have the following parameters:

  • the leaves are rounded, can be heart-shaped, monochromatic, there are varieties with a slightly jagged edge;
  • the size of the rosette varies from 20 to 40 cm in diameter;
  • the stem is short and the rosette is flat;
  • flowers are five-petaled, simple stars or pansies, without ruffle or other changes, sometimes have a slight waviness along the edge of the petal;
  • the color of the flowers is one-color, sometimes two-tone (when a flower contains two shades of the same color);
  • the size of the flowers is medium or small, large flowers can be found very rarely and most often belong to hybrid varieties;
  • easily form a regular, symmetrical rosette.

Standards are old, proven, good varieties of violets. Sometimes they are classified as rare, they are charming, but in the conditions of modern diversity they are not in great demand.

The advantage of such violets is their unpretentiousness ; unlike hybrid varieties, they are much more tolerant of unfavorable conditions. For example, the Blue Boy variety.

Blue Boy.
