Violet catalog with photo, name and description: 250+ varieties of homemade Saintpaulias

Saintpaulias are classified according to three main characteristics: flower, foliage and rosette. In this article we have collected for you the most popular varieties of violets with photos and names.

  1. Saintpaulia flowers are distinguished by color, shape, degree of doubleness (or number of petals) and the edge of the petal itself.
  2. The foliage of a flower can be ordinary or variegated, when the color of the leaves, in addition to green, contains inclusions of other colors. Also, Saintpaulia leaves vary in shape, degree of fluffiness, and type of surface.
  3. A rosette is a collection of leaves of a plant. It, in turn, is classified according to two criteria: size and type.

In this article we will talk in detail about each of the classification features and clearly show them in the photo.

White violets in their diversity - what varieties are there?

White violets differ from all other varieties precisely in their lightness, tenderness and purity. Violet is very often grown by cultivating the following plant species.

Name of white violets:

white violet: “bridal bouquet” variety

"EK-White Queen." The variety is characterized by a white tint of petals, which have uneven edges in the form of waves. Plants look very decorative and brighten up any room. The size of the bush has standard dimensions. The size of the flowers is at least 7 cm. The plant has fairly long peduncles that form lush inflorescences. Sometimes, when there are too many flowers, the peduncle may droop. The flowering period lasts approximately 60 days. At the same time, new buds gradually replace old ones. During the entire flowering period, a large number of them are formed, so the plant looks very elegant and beautiful at the peak of the flowering of a large number of flowers. In general, the bush has a diameter of at least 25 cm, and against the background of rich green leaves, which have a glossy surface, snow-white double inflorescences contrast.

"Snow lace" This plant is not large in size, has a corrugated leaf plate, as well as lush, double, snow-white flowers. Blue specks can also be seen on some crops. At the peak of the flowering period, the violet looks excellent, forming lush flowers with a large number of inflorescences, the shape of which resembles a circle.

white violet: white lace variety

"Aly's Blizzard Bunny" This is the type of white violet that is most often grown because this plant not only looks very beautiful, but also requires less demanding care. Externally, the flowers are very similar to water lily flowers. At the same time, the plants have a fairly dense rosette, which consists of bright green leaves shaped like a heart.

"The bride's bouquet". The plant has fairly large petals that form inflorescences resembling a star shape. The leaves have a snow-white hue and are located directly above the surface of the ground, or rather, they are located on a thick, rich green rosette with a glossy surface. The name of this variety speaks for itself, since the plant is very similar to a bridal bouquet.

"White Camellia" This variety is also distinguished by its rather lush flowers, which have a snow-white hue and an unusual petal shape. The rosette, consisting of green leaves, does not have a large diameter. The shade of the leaves is emerald, and you can also see some specks on the leaf plate that resemble a pattern. This variety is also characterized by a long flowering period, which can last throughout the year under suitable conditions.

white violet: “polar bear” variety

"AB is a polar bear." This plant is distinguished by a large diameter of inflorescences, which have a double shape and milky petals. Externally, the flowers resemble a ball. At the same time, the leaf plate is not very long and has an uneven edge, as well as a light green tint.

"RS-White Pearl". The flowers of this plant resemble the shape of a ball, have a fairly large diameter and a snow-white hue. Externally, the bush looks quite lush and voluminous. At the same time, the leaf plates are also large in size and grow on long cuttings, approximately 20 cm. Like all violets, this variety has a long flowering period.

Rebels Rosebud. The variety is bred specifically from white violets. However, here the petals have a soft pink tint. Three flowers are formed on one peduncle. This plant is undemanding in care and begins its flowering period very quickly. Also, there is no need to constantly move the pot, since the rosette is formed here regardless of the light.

In addition to the above varieties, varieties such as “LiK-White Cradle”, “RM-White Sails”, “RS-White Magic”, “NK-White Envy”, “LE-White Peony”, “AV” are also in great demand -White Carnation”, “LE-Tamara”, “NK-White Poppy”, “AN-White Nalivy”.

Recommended care.

Green violet is a variety of Saintpaulia that has a rather capricious attitude towards the growing process, the correctness and quality of care, and the required soil composition. The presence of all certain conditions will allow the plant to flourish for a long period, but the lack of at least one of the conditions will entail a disruption in the development and subsequent death of the plant.

Watering.

Proper, systematic watering, strictly water in a tray specially installed under the pots with violets. Overmoistening leads to the formation of diseases, mainly rotting of the root system. Do not violate the required temperature regime, above +24 degrees and below +19 has a detrimental effect on the development of Saintpaulia.

Light.

Violet is a plant that begins to wither without enough light. This point has an important function when considering the general condition of the flower. Violets especially need sunlight at the time of flowering.

How to feed green varieties of violets

We monitor the supply of nutrients needed by the plant monthly. The quality and quantity of which depends on the growing season. Be sure to choose the right pots; this is an important point for violets. It should be almost the same size, plus or minus in different directions. In a large container, the root system begins to actively develop and grow, which takes the strength of the entire plant for proper development. In a smaller pot, the flower begins to feel discomfort, and deformation of the plant and roots occurs. Small pots are inconvenient for the plant, and it shows its dissatisfaction by simply refusing to bloom.

How to replant green violets

Every year, each violet bush is subject to mandatory replanting. The soil for this purpose must be prepared correctly yourself or simply purchased at a special store. How to make a similar soil mixture with your own hands? We take part of the earth, mix it with part of the sand, and be sure to add sphagnum moss, which plays the role of a reservoir of necessary moisture. Added broken bricks or ordinary pebbles will serve as excellent drainage for the soil, which is so necessary for the healthy development of violets. To get more beautiful flowers on the windowsill and at the slightest financial cost (this means buying bushes in a flower shop), Saintpaulia can simply be propagated, of course, following all the rules and recommendations about this process.

How to propagate green varieties of violets

Reproduction is recommended through leaves. Break off healthy, developed leaf blades or carefully cut them; you can simply place them in a container with water; the filling of the container should not cover the whole leaf, only the lower part of the stem. Constantly check the water to make sure it doesn’t dry out. Rooting will stop if this process is disrupted. You can also stick the leaves into the soil. Constantly moisturize. Next, after the first roots appear, we transplant them into prepared pots with the required soil composition. We put it up for permanent residence so that the young plant immediately begins to acclimatize to new conditions.

Features of care

Varieties of green violets are considered more demanding in terms of maintenance conditions than others. This is explained by the fact that the characteristics of their color are directly related to temperature, lighting conditions and regularity of watering.

In general, violets with green flowers are considered not very demanding plants; the main thing is to follow the basic recommendations for caring for them.

However, among these Saintpaulias one can distinguish green violets, which may be difficult to grow:

  • LE-Green Rose;
  • RS-Green Lagoon;
  • Green dragon;
  • RS-Green Corals.

Watering

The watering regime is no different from the norms recommended for other varieties of Saintpaulia. It is important to water the plants with boiled water at room temperature.

Do not allow the soil to overflow or, conversely, dry out. Overmoistening of the soil can lead to the development of fungal diseases of the plant's root system.

Violets should neither be poured nor dried.

also recommended to water at the root of the bush , without leaving a drop of water on the surface of the leaves, or to use the wick method of watering.

Air humidity

Increased air humidity will promote regular flowering . You can create it by placing a flower pot on a tray of expanded clay filled with water.

Lighting

Most green violets require intense light due to the rich, dark green color of the foliage.

Those varieties that have a lighter leaf part are able to grow in more shaded conditions.

The most comfortable place to place green violets is considered to be an eastern or western window.

Advice! To ensure uniform formation of the rosette, you need to periodically turn the pot with the plant.

Optimal temperature

The most important criterion influencing the appearance and intensity of green color in Saintpaulia flowers is the temperature regime.

To develop a green tint, violets need to create conditions for a comfortable temperature - no higher than 20 degrees. As it increases, the green color becomes less noticeable, and subsequently disappears completely.

Feeding

Most green violets have wavy foliage, which is a sign of slow plant growth. Therefore, nitrogen-containing fertilizing should be regular and balanced. It is also recommended to ensure that the soil acidity level is close to neutral.
